This book was suggested to me by a friend. I have found a great attraction for cop and supernatural story lines. I hope the series continues as I am eagerly waiting the next installment. Read on because it is near Midnight.

Near Midnight

This book has everything: plot, characters, romance (spice), action, and fantasy.
The lead character is a well written, strong but sensitive woman, surrounded fully developed characters, both friends and foes. The other characters, even the mythological ones, have depth, interesting personalities (including personal quirks) and believe-abilty. Also, the dialogue is extremely well done. I love an author who can make her characters sound like real people, saying things that people would actually say.
The story, while hopefully only the first in a long series of Gracy Chronicles, is a complete story arc. (I mention this because it is one of my pet peeves, when authors sell you a "book" that is really only part of a story.) Near Midnight tells a complete and exciting adventure for Gracy and friends. Of course, at the end there are plenty of open doors for the characters to walk through into other stories, but you are satisfied at the end about this particular adventure.
The plot is tightly structured and perfectly paced. You are swept along from the first sentence to the last with not one dull moment.
The romance is well integrated into the story, adding to the texture and experience of the tale. Warning, this book is NOT rated PG. No prudes allowed.
And of course, there are the vampires. This author takes some of the usual vampire lore, but adds more of her own vision and version of vampires, their origins, and how they fit into our world and in relation to other mythical creatures, like the Djinn.
I highly recommend this book, and beg Harper Rush to get busy on the second Chronicle!

What if there are not only humans walking this earth? What if vampires exist? What if other supernaturals exist?
This story makes you really believe it, because they are not some mythical creatures with extraordinary skills, no, they are persons with an own character, with feelings and needs, with strengths and weaknesses, just a little different.
But not all of them are good. There is a demon craving to be set free, to torture and rule the world with pure evil. And he is close to reach his goal. Will the small group around Gracy, a stubborn and determined cop with the heart of a lion, and Nash, the hot - really hot - vampire, be able to defeat what is threatening not only mankind?
Join their battle against the evil and you will be drawn into a story filled with suspense and mystery, but also speaking of love and friendship.
Near Midnight is one of the books I enjoyed most, I could barely put it aside. And I'd love to read more about Gracy and Nash.
If you enjoy a great mystery full of murder, mystery and hot romance, then this is the book for you!!

Near Midnight is about Gracy, a cop who reminds me of what makes all other great cops, perseverance, stubbornness, a strong sense of doing what is right in spite of the obstacles placed in front of her. She's stands up for her friends, even if it comes at great personal sacrifice.
Then there's the mysterious man who has been following her, even into her dreams, Nash. He is hotter than a baked potato right out of the oven. And the scenes between them can scorch, so be careful.
These two are just the start of the great team behind them as they battle it out with a demon that has a hankering for human souls and ideas about ruling our Earth and beyond.
So strap yourself in and let the battle begin.
